October arrived quietly — a one-week lull after September's avalanche — and then Spider-Man: Brand New Day dropped on Prime Video and reminded everyone that streaming moves at whatever pace it wants. But before October gets its full moment, September deserves an honest accounting: forty-plus Indian-language titles across five weeks, three genuine must-watches, two surprise hits nobody expected, and one ₹500-crore Kannada epic that finally found its real audience on a living-room screen.
This week's own headline is quieter but no less real. A Malayalam fantasy-comedy with an 8.6 on IMDb. A Tamil family drama that audiences are calling the most emotionally satisfying film of the quarter. And from Hollywood, the most talked-about superhero film of 2026 finally lands in India. Sixty-plus titles across all languages, verified from multiple sources, sorted and reviewed below.

🔍 Big Stories — This Week's Headlines
PRIME VIDEO — MALAYALAM — OCT 3
Antappante Athbudha Pravarthikal
Genre: Fantasy / Comedy | IMDb: 8.6 (early)
The week's frontrunner — and the biggest surprise. A Malayalam fantasy-comedy about an ordinary man whose mundane life starts producing extraordinary, inexplicable events around him. The title translates roughly to "Antappan's Wondrous Adventures," and the early IMDb score of 8.6 says audiences are responding exactly to the kind of warm, inventive storytelling that Malayalam cinema does better than almost anyone. No big-budget visual spectacle needed: just a sharp script, confident direction, and an actor who knows how to anchor absurdity with sincerity. Watch this before the discourse catches up to it.
JIOHOTSTAR — MALAYALAM — OCT 2
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit
Genre: Drama / Romance | IMDb: 8.1 | Trending: #1 on JioHotstar India
Two Malayalam originals in a single week — rare, and both worth your time. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is a family drama rooted in Christian community life in central Kerala. The film follows an extended family unit through a single significant event that brings long-suppressed stories to the surface. At 8.1, this is not a polished awards drama but something more honest: the kind of film that feels like it was made for the people it is about, and those people are clearly watching. Trending number one on JioHotstar's India charts this week confirms it.
PRIME VIDEO — ENGLISH — OCT 6
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Director: Destin Daniel Cretton | Cast: Tom Holland, Sadie Sink, Zendaya | Runtime: 145 min | IMDb: 8.2
The film that broke the global box office record — currently the #4 biggest film in cinema history worldwide — is now on Prime Video. The premise is lean and heartbreaking: Peter Parker fighting crime in a world that has completely forgotten he exists. Sadie Sink joins as the new co-lead and early reviews call her addition one of the best character introductions in the MCU in years. Director Destin Daniel Cretton brings the same street-level intimacy that made Shang-Chi feel different from every other Marvel film. Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam dubs available on Prime. This is one of the event films of 2026 — not a streaming-only consolation prize.
NETFLIX — HINDI SERIES — SEP 24 (STILL STREAMING)
Shaque: Trust No One
Cast: Parineeti Chopra, Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin | Episodes: 8 | Director: Rensil D'Silva
A mother receives the first photograph of her stolen newborn nine years after the abduction. That single image — and the question of who sent it and why — unravels everyone she trusted. Parineeti Chopra has been building to a role like this for years. Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Soni Razdan, and Harleen Sethi complete an ensemble where almost nobody is who they appear to be. Eight episodes. Early screening reports called it "relentlessly gripping." If September had one series that made the month, this was it — and it's still on Netflix, right now, waiting for you.
